Baylor Scott & White Health Entering Clinic Market

Baylor Scott & White Health is positioning the organization to grow in a changing market of healthcare delivery.

To shift the organization requires a culture change and a major initiative

Baylor Scott & White Health is expanding its Texas Care Alliance from two hospitals to nine, sharing data and best practices among care facilities that stretch as far west as Odessa to as east as Longview in an effort to lower healthcare costs and readmission rates.

They are all members of the Texas Purchasing Coalition which is a partnership of 21 not-for-profit acute care hospitals the helps coordinate group purchasing services and management analytics.

In another initiative, Baylor Scott & White Health is reportedly looking to ink an affiliation with retail-based health clinics inside select Walgreens and Walmart locations, the Dallas Morning News has reported.

The report comes as CVS Caremark announced on Wednesday that it has entered into new clinical affiliations with four healthcare providers, including Texas Health Resources in Texas.

According to the news article, physicians affiliated with Baylor will oversee clinics within 13 area Walgreens — a number that could grow to 28, the article stated.

Baylor is reportedly working on a similar deal with Wal-Mart in North and Central Texas, where the retailer is running a pilot program of Wal-Mart-owned clinics in a handful of Texas stores.
