The company’s Regional Specialty Pharmacy in Maryland Heights, has earned URAC accreditation. The company said it plans to seek URAC accreditation for each of these pharmacies. The company’s eight other specialty pharmacies are in St. Louis (four locations); Brentwood, MO.; Springfield and Rockford, IL.; and Evansville, IN.

Along with the specialty pharmacies, Schnucks operates 109 retail pharmacies and one care center. The grocer increased its number of pharmacies in late 2018 following the acquisition of Shop ‘n Save stores from Supervalu. The acquisition included 15 supermarket pharmacies plus one freestanding pharmacy. Overall, Schnucks operates 119 stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Following the acquisition, Schnuck Markets Inc. plan to begin a hiring drive to fill 1,000 open jobs. Schnucks hoped to fully staff its 69 metropolitan St. Louis stores and the 19 area Shop ‘n Save supermarkets being acquired from Supervalu.

More than 600 Shop ‘n Save employees at the 19 stores had already accepted job offers, although the company said it still needed to hire 1,000 more people even after filling those positions.

Most of the open positions were to be part-time to start, but full-time jobs also were available at the company’s bakery plant, pharmacy warehouse, pharmacy central-fill facility and pharmacy call center.
