Kmart Pharmacy Enters Specialty Pharmacy Market

Kmart Pharmacy announced that it is working with Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy to provide specialty medications and support.

Kmart, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sears Holdings Corporation, said that it is working with Diplomat to give Kmart customers and Shop Your Way members access to specialty medications for a variety of conditions, including HIV, Crohn’s disease, anemia blood modifiers, hepatitis C, and more. Shop Your Way is a social shopping experience where members have the ability to earn points and receive benefits both in store and online.

Kmart’s new agreement with Diplomat Pharmacy will allow Kmart to offer a new level of service and convenience to meet the needs of their patients who require specialty medication, a population of patients that continues to grow.

In addition to HIV, Crohn’s disease, anemia, and hepatitis C, Kmart Pharmacies will also offer medications to treat specialty conditions such as cystic fibrosis, growth hormone, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis, renal, rheumatoid arthritis, and transplants.

Additionally, customers of Kmart Pharmacy will have access to patient care coordinators familiar with their medical files, specialized injection training for those who require this service, and manufacturer co-pay support cards for eligible patients.

Sears Holdings (SHLD) recently announced that Mark Panzer will join the company as senior vice president and president, Pharmacy.

Mr. Panzer most recently served as president and CEO of Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, Inc.

In his new role with Sears Holdings, Mr. Panzer will be responsible for the oversight and leadership of the company’s Pharmacy business under the Kmart format, both in-store and online.
