The sift of health care being delivered and administered in patients’ homes during the COVID-19 pandemic has coincided with the growth in development of oral oncolytic agents for a number of therapy targets. Insurance plans are increasingly approving in-house specialty pharmacies to dispense oral oncolytic agents as an alternative to third-party specialty pharmacies.
This integrated specialty pharmacy model, typically located within large healthcare networks or practices, makes it possible for patients to obtain their specialty anticancer medications directly from the oncology program. The National Community Oncology Dispensing Association, Inc. (NCODA) announced in 2020 that it conclusively defined the Medically Integrated Dispensing Pharmacy as a dispensing pharmacy within an oncology center of excellence that promotes a patient-centered, multidisciplinary team approach.
AMI’s new report focuses on the growing trend of oncology practices operating medically integrated pharmacies by providing profiles of the practices and how they operate within the oncology practice. The report provides an overview and profiles more than 30 leading oncology practices that offer a medically integrated pharmacy. Each practice profile includes: Address, Phone, URL, Executive Director, Practice Administrator, Pharmacy Director(s), Practice Background, Locations, Treatments and Services, Pharmacy Background and Operations and Recent Activities.
