Amazon.com has consolidated its healthcare efforts under one central organization and planning for further expansion across various businesses.
The consolidated healthcare structure will help Amazon as it works to develop more customer-centric ways for patients to get the healthcare services, products and medications they need.
- Amazon Pharmacy – Amazon.com, in November 2020, announced two new pharmacy offerings to help customers conveniently purchase their prescription medications.
- Amazon Care – Amazon.com, in 2019, launched Amazon Care to provide Amazon employees and their families immediate access to high-quality medical care. Amazon.com recently announced the acquisition of One Medical to accelerate its primary care effort. Amazon announced in an internal email in late August 2022 that it plans to shut down Amazon Care at the end of the year.
- Amazon Diagnostics – Amazon.com is building demand for the company’s consumer devices, like wearables and smart speakers in healthcare.
- Amazon.com is growing enterprise sales with AWS for Health. Amazon.com’s cloud business plays a key role in its healthcare strategy. AWS for Health offers a set of services and partner solutions for healthcare, genomics and biopharma.
