Press Release: HQF Announcement on the launch of their new Employer-Provider Interface Council (EPIC)

Shrewsbury, New Jersey, November 15, 2017The Hospital Quality Foundation, a not-for-profit healthcare quality organization, today announced the launch of the Employer-Provider Interface Council (EPIC), an organization comprised of healthcare professionals dedicated to transforming employer- provider healthcare collaboration. It is the mission of EPIC to provide insight, information, and guidance to employer and provider decision makers.

EPIC will provide an environment that allows key stakeholders to focus thought, develop key metrics, and design care management strategies that effect change within populations of patients. Through the employer-provider interaction, EPIC serves to facilitate informed decisions on how best to structure care for the benefit of their shared population. This allows for better, more effective patient care, improved financial performance and a better overall delivery process.

“We believe EPIC will provide insight, information, and guidance to employer and provider decision makers,” stated Randy Vogenberg, Chairman of the EPIC Board of Directors. “By shifting the relationship between employers and their healthcare providers to a communicative partnership, EPIC helps employers and providers take a more active role in managing their healthcare investment.”

As part of its activities, EPIC is creating a group of resources that include white papers, educational programs, pharmacoeconomic assessments, interactive case studies, and guidelines for best practices written by thought leaders working in the employer-provider interface. The first of these initiatives is a white paper entitled Mobility as a Framework for Managing Osteoarthritis in a Holistic Chronic Disease Model, supported with funding from Sanofi.

EPIC is directed by a board of highly qualified individuals with experience and expertise in health care quality and medicine. Educational and research grants are the primary source of funding for EPIC, with additional support generated through the educational activities of EPIC.
