DrFirst’s Rcopia Gains Boost with CoverMyMeds Partnership

CoverMyMeds and DrFirst have partnered to enable electronic prior authorization (ePA) functionality within DrFirst’s medication management software.

Under the new partnership, CoverMyMeds’ ePA functionality will be incorporated within DrFirst’s market-leading medication management software, including its Rcopia e-prescribing, RcopiaMU for Meaningful Use, and Patient Advisor medication adherence platforms.

Some drugs require prior authorizations (PA), a formulary management process requiring pre-approval of certain drugs. The PA process has historically taken the form of paper, faxes, and phone calls between medical practices, pharmacies and insurance companies, which can be exceptionally cumbersome for doctors and practice staff.

Under the partnership, CoverMyMeds’ functionality will be fully integrated into both of DrFirst’s ambulatory care and acute care systems to foster an ePA process that is complimentary to the hundreds of thousands of doctors and medical staff who use DrFirst stand-alone systems or DrFirst software that is integrated in over 300 EMR/HER and HIS systems.

DrFirst was the first company to realize the importance of connecting with both RxHub and Surescripts, the first to systematically provide electronic prescription software services to EMR/EHR, PMS, and other health IT vendors, and the first to electronically transmit prescriptions for controlled substances under a DEA waiver – with the primary goal of prioritizing provider needs first and secondly modernizing the continuum-of-care across the nation through connected healthcare communities.

Rcopia-Classic offers alerts to any clinical errors at the point of care, allowing providers to make more informed decisions before they become health risks.
