Pharmacy Buying Groups were formed to provide independent pharmacies purchasing power with drug wholesalers. These groups have evolved to become full-service organizations to help independent pharmacies succeed in a market dominated by pharmacy benefit managers and chain drug stores.
A Pharmacy Services Administrative Organization (PSAO) interacts with healthcare insurers and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) on behalf of independent community pharmacies. A majority of the nearly independent community pharmacies in the U.S. voluntarily outsource some administrative services to a PSAO.
AMI’s 2022 Pharmacy Buying Group Report offers comprehensive intelligence on the leading pharmacy buying groups, both national and regional. Each buying group profile includes: company background, executives, programs and services, wholesaler and vendors, and recent activities.
