Pharmacy Buying Groups were formed to provide independent pharmacies purchasing power with drug wholesalers. These groups have evolved to become full-service organizations to help independent pharmacies succeed in a market dominated by pharmacy benefit managers and chain drug stores.
There are different types of buying groups. Some are regional and based on location. Others limit their membership to specific segments of pharmacies.
Buying Groups provide discounted prices to their members by negotiating better pricing with one primary wholesaler, while charging administrative fees. Some Buying Groups are structured like co-operatives and offer their members monthly or quarterly rebates.
AMI’s Pharmacy Buying Group 2023-2024 Report offers comprehensive intelligence on the leading pharmacy buying groups, both national and regional.
Each buying group profile includes: company background, strategy, executives, financial/investor information, products and services, and recent activities.
The report is available for $249 for a single-user license. Department and Corporate Licenses are available, please click here.
