Vizient Strengthens Supply Chain Capabilities with Proposed Intalere Acquisition

Vizient provides solutions and services that improve the delivery of high-value care by aligning cost, quality and market performance for more than 50% of the nation’s acute care providers, which includes 95% of the nation’s academic medical centers, and more than 20% of ambulatory providers.

Vizient provides expertise, analytics and advisory services, as well as a contract portfolio that represents more than $100 billion in annual purchasing volume, to improve patient outcomes and lower costs.

Vizient’s diverse membership and customer base includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers.

Vizient has been working to sharpen its focus and evolve the way it support members to reduce the impact of demand surges and supply shortage due to unexpected events. One of Vizient’s key strategies to improve supply resilience is to expand domestic capacity and support product availability.

Vizient recently announced it will acquire Intalere from Intermountain Healthcare, enhancing itself as a leader in the health care supply chain. Intermountain Healthcare will now partner with Vizient for supply chain solutions and services, thereby expanding their current relationship with Vizient in clinical and cost analytics.

The planned acquisition will support and fuel Vizient’s mission to strengthen members’ delivery of high value care by aligning cost, quality and market performance by:

  • Reinforcing its commitment to supply chain as a strategic asset for health care providers.
  • Expanding its non-acute footprint to create additional opportunities through its subsidiary, Provista.
  • Increasing its presence in smaller and/or rural acute facilities, helping support these communities with local health care services.

Intalere is a provider-led healthcare supply chain company with more than 100,000 members from healthcare organizations all over the country. Intalere members make nearly $9 billion in purchases annually.

Intalere plans to expand into high-margin businesses to prepare for a more difficult market environment by scanning for technologies and approaches that it needs but cannot provide.
