Anthem’s Digital Kiosk Initiative Growing in California

Anthem is a leading health benefits company dedicated to improving lives and communities, and making healthcare simpler. Through its affiliated companies, Anthem serves more than 79 million people, including 41 million within its family of health plans.

As the health care delivery system transforms as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, underserved populations are facing increasing challenges in accessing quality health care.

Anthem Blue Cross of California has recently launched a series of initiatives to help simplify and improve health care access for their 1.2 million Medi-Cal members, including the company’s digital solutions kiosk program.

Anthem has deployed more than 200 digital kiosks inside 80 health centers in the past six months across the state of California. These Wi-Fi enabled, mobile kiosks facilitate on-demand interpretation of more than 240 languages through trained and certified interpreters. The kiosks also offer access to specialty telehealth, video conferencing, insurance benefit information, and community resources during patient appointments.

Anthem has also expanded access to telehealth and nurse lines for both medical and emotional health to meet the growing needs for 24/7 information, support and care. For Medicare and Medicaid members, the company has reinforced its long-standing focus on social drivers of health to provide support with food, housing, transportation and more.

Takeaway: Anthem’s kiosks include Wi-Fi enabled tablets that help health professionals connect with certified interpreters without having to pre-schedule
